Drivers in Training

CPPS Commits to:

Providing driver trainer, paying for the driver physical (at our designated location)

 Driver Commits to:

Paying for--First Aid/CPR (approx.$55), Driver permit (approx. $40), licensing (approx.$100), time for the classroom training (approx. 40hrs), fingerprinting (approx.$55)

Driver Incentives

Training Incentives:

$300 stipend after driver completes 20 hours of training, all licensing completed, and hired

****Training must be completed within 90 days of start date

Employment Incentives:

Regular Employee---(Route Driver):

$500 stipend after five months of employment

$500 additional stipend after the first year of employment

Substitutes:

$500 stipend after four months of employment and 20hrs of work

$500 additional stipend after for first year of employment and 40hrs of work

*The stipend pays the employee for the 50 hours of training and testing they completed prior to hire.

Hours of Work

  • Drivers generally work 180 days a year with summers off

  • Routes run from 6:00am to 8:30am and 2:00pm to 4:30pm on average school days

  • School days are Monday through Friday

  • Drivers can get additional hours with extra trips (field trips, athletic events)

Requirements for Drivers

  • A valid Washington State driver's License, Class B, School Bus, Passenger, and Air Brake Endorsement (free training provided) 

  • Passed pre-employment drug test which includes THC

  • Passed CDL physical

  • Passed background check

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • At least 21 years of age

  • Must be vaccinated for COVID-19

  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations
