ASchild

Hello everyone, Officer Schild here, your School Resource Officer for the College Place School District. As we begin the 2024-2025 school year, I want to reintroduce myself and let the City of College Place know that I am here as the SRO.

I hope you all had a wonderful summer and are ready for the start of school. There's a lot to look forward to this year, including sports, group activities, and many other events that will keep us busy throughout the year.

I will continue to share my SRO newsletter each month, providing tips and information that I believe will be useful to parents in our community. In previous newsletters, I have covered topics like cell phone monitoring apps, vaping, and Snapchat. If you missed any of these, you can find them on the School District website for review.

Starting the school year off right is crucial. It’s a great time to have conversations with your child about online safety and the challenges of using social media. Talk about the importance of not sharing personal information online, the risks of interacting with strangers, and the effects of cyberbullying. Also, remind them that what they post online can impact their future, such as college admissions or job opportunities. Encouraging thoughtful posting and awareness of their digital footprint can go a long way.

Remember, school can sometimes be challenging, and it's not just about academics. If your child is facing any issues, it's important for them to know that support is available. Our principals, support staff, and I are here to help with any questions or concerns.

I am honored to be the School Resource Officer for College Place Schools, and I’m excited about what this year has in store.
