College Place, WA – College Place High School is pleased to announce Devon Bouvier’s hiring as the new head football coach for the Hawks pending board approval later this month. A dedicated educator and accomplished athlete and coach, Bouvier brings a dynamic blend of playing and coaching experience to the program, positioning CPHS football for an exciting next chapter.
Bouvier’s athletic journey began at Kennewick High School, where his leadership and athleticism stood out in both football and baseball. He went on to play baseball at Western Oregon University, earning first-team honors in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference during his senior year in 2010. After college and some time playing baseball professionally, he began to teach and coach in the Tri-Cities region.
Since joining College Place High School, Bouvier has made a significant impact as a STEM and ASB teacher, while also contributing to the school’s athletic programs. He currently serves as the CPHS Head Baseball Coach and also coaches middle school basketball at Sager Middle School, the feeder to every Hawk program. Coach Bouvier’s baseball teams have seen incredible success claiming SCAC District Championships in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
Over the last three years, he served as an offensive assistant for the CPHS football team, helping to develop the team’s offensive approach and strengthening the program’s foundation. His passion and understanding of the game and his ability to connect with student-athletes make him the ideal choice to lead the Hawks. Graduating Senior and former football player Andrei Smith said, “Thank you Coach Bouvier for being my mentor. I will never forget the things Coach Bouvier’s done to help shape me into the man I am today.”
Principal Robert Aguilar stated, "Devon brings a tremendous amount of passion and energy to the program. He loves coaching, he loves sports, and he loves to see his players succeed on and off the field. We are excited to see what this next chapter of CPHS Football holds in store for us ."
Bouvier’s coaching philosophy focuses on a commitment to his players as individuals, both on and off the field. He believes that sports are not just about winning games but about building character, fostering teamwork, and preparing young athletes for life beyond high school . As he steps into his new role, he is excited to build a program that not only achieves success on the field but also helps student-athletes develop into leaders of character in the community.
Bouvier expressed his excitement: "I’m incredibly honored to step into this role as the varsity football coach at College Place High School. This is more than just a job—it's an opportunity to build relationships, create a culture of trust and hard work, and help these young athletes grow on and off the field. I’m excited to get to work and proud to lead this program into its next chapter."
The College Place community is invited to rally around Coach Bouvier and the Hawks football team as they prepare for the upcoming season. His vision and leadership promise to energize the program and inspire a strong sense of pride within the school and beyond.
