College Place Public Schools is excited to launch a Dual Language Program at Davis Elementary, beginning with kindergarten in the 2025-26 school year and expanding by one grade level each year. This program will provide students the opportunity to become bilingual, biliterate, and culturally competent in an increasingly global world.

“We are excited to bring this program to Davis Elementary,” said Principal Mark Ferraro. “It’s a great opportunity for students to grow academically while learning two languages.”

The program will follow a structured Spanish-English model, starting with 80% instruction in Spanish in kindergarten and transitioning to a 50/50 balance by third grade. Students will develop strong academic skills while learning in both languages.

“This program is about connection,” said Dr. Robert Aguilar, College Place High School Principal overseeing the K-12 Multilingual Program. “We’re giving students the opportunity to learn in two languages, opening doors for their futures.”

The program is open to all incoming kindergarten students, with priority given to multilingual learners, then heritage Spanish speakers, then native English speakers to create balanced classrooms. One kindergarten section will be offered, and if demand exceeds capacity, a lottery may be used for selection.

Families are encouraged to commit to the program through at least fifth grade, as research shows the greatest benefits occur over time.
