\r\nCOLLEGE PLACE, WA – College Place voters will be asked to approve an $18.9 million Educational Programs & Operations (EP&O) Levy on February 8, 2022. During last night’s regular meeting, the school board approved the Levy Resolution and corresponding tax rate of $2.50 per $1,000 assessed value.
\r\nIf approved by voters, the EP&O levy funds will be used to continue current staffing and essential programs in College Place schools that are not fully funded by the State, including smaller class sizes, nurses, classroom and medical paraeducators, counselors, social and emotional learning, technology, transportation, extra-curricular activities and clubs, athletics, the arts, safety, and much more.
\r\n“We are asking our community to continue to support our students and our programs as they have in the past. These next four years will see significant continued growth in our city and these levy dollars will allow us to address that growth. Our city is one that is centered on education, and these funds will continue to ensure we maintain and enhance our excellent services,” stated Superintendent Jim Fry.
\r\n\r\nThe proposed 2022 EP&O Levy combines the district’s existing Technology & Safety and Transportation levies into a single, four-year levy at a maximum of $2.50. The EP&O Levy rate is $0.10 lower than the current overall rate of $2.60 paid by College Place voters. The proposed 2022 levy combines and replaces the levies last approved by College Place voters in February 2018 and is not a new tax.
\r\n\r\nCPPS Board Chair Mandy Thompson added, “The future of College Place Public Schools is bright and this levy allows us to continue the excellence going on here and support our continued growth.”
